On September 17th Gothic Knight Grassroots and AFT Local 1839 hosted our first community luncheon! Gothic Knight Grassroots is a relatively new club on campus focused on student's activism, voices, and higher education. We invited all students and AFT Local 1839 members interested to join us for lunch and open discussions.
On Tuesday, AFT's Local 1839 held the Donald J. Silberman Scholarship Award Luncheon honoring student recipient Ms Shannon Gallagher, and Dr. Ivan Steinberg the recipient of the Robert A. Arey Service Award.
Nearly 30 Professional Staff employees turned out for advice on building their portfolio as part of a seminar offered by Queen Gibson, VP of Professional Staff and Librarians, and the Professional Staff Advisory Committee. The seminar is becoming an annual event to help Professional Staffers submit applications for NJCU’s Performance Based Promotions process.
A Professional Staff workshop was held on Wednesday, October 23rd that featured Ms. Jennifer Higgens, Professional Staff representative from the Council of New Jersey State College Locals (CNJSCL ) and Anthony Surratt II- NJCU chair of the Promotions Committee. Each speaker provided valuable information about conflict management in the workplace and promotion procedures to over 50 attendees.
